· FAQs for flatmates
What it’s
really like to live in a shared flat with MyColoc.
Everything a prospective flatmate wants to know before moving in.
How much deposit do I need to pay?
A deposit equivalent to just one month’s rent, whereas Luxembourg regulations allow for two months’ rent. This is one of our favourable terms. It must be paid in order to secure the room at the start of the rental period. It is refunded at the end of the stay, following the inventory check.
What is the notice period if you leave?
One month's notice, compared with two under standard legal provisions. You retain flexibility.
Are service charges included?
Yes, in our properties, internet access, maintenance of communal areas and energy bills are included, as well as all consumables: toilet paper, hand soap, dishwasher tablets, etc.
Can I register this address as my place of residence?
Yes. Our properties are compliant with local regulations and have been approved by the local authorities, which means that all flatmates can register their address there.
How are flatmates chosen?
We don’t just look at the application. We also aim to create balanced flat-sharing arrangements, with people who are likely to get on well together. Everyone should be able to spend time with the others whilst retaining their independence and privacy.
What are the housemates like?
We ensure that there is a good mix of ages and professions amongst the flatmates. The flatmates are aged between 22 and 32. Most of them are young professionals or students. We ensure that there is a balance between men and women.
Is there someone there to meet you on arrival?
Yes: a welcome drink to get to know the others, help with administrative procedures, and availability via WhatsApp for any questions.
How do I arrange a visit?
Please complete the contact form to let us know what you need. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
I have a pet… is it possible to bring it into the room?
Sorry, we love animals, but we don’t allow them in shared flats due to potential conflicts with other tenants.
Is it possible to have guests over?
The house has a large living room where parties can be held and where guests from outside the house can be invited. For flatmates who would like to host friends or family, this is permitted provided they have informed the landlords and the other flatmates. Guests may sleep in the flatmate’s bedroom or on one of the sofa beds in the living rooms. The stay must not exceed one week.
I’ve got a car – where can I park it?
Depending on the property, you may be able to park in front of the house or apply to the municipality for a parking permit to park on the street.
How can we be sure you’re not scammers?
You can call us or send us an email, and we can arrange a viewing in person! Never send any money before you’ve seen the room. If you’re unable to visit in person, we can arrange a WhatsApp call.
